Ford Mondeo (Modified)

This car was parked outside Hotel Lands End at Bandra (Mumbai-India). Though known to be a very capable car, even comparable to a Mercedes, the Ford Mondeo did’nt find many takers in the Indian car market where it was priced close to Rs.20 Lacs.

One reason could be that people in India still consider a Mercedes as the ultimate status symbol. The other reason could be that Ford (India) is very weak in after sales servicing matters. The spare parts too are very expensive. The Mondeo came with Xenon lights and this was revolutionary in those times but to replace a set of the Healight assembly it would cost a mind boggling Rs.70,000.

However, Ford Mondeo is available at dirt cheap rates in the second hand car market. A 4 year old car would cost about Rs.5 Lacs only. Today people buy a used Mondeo for the ‘Big Car Feel’.
